Hollum’s Tower
Day 1
The air inside Hollum's Tower is thick with the scent of fear and the murmur of anxious voices. Seraphs huddle together, seeking warmth in the crowded hall.
Above us, Wizard Hollum's crystal, a beacon of shimmering light, casts long, dancing shadows. It's a fragile sanctuary, this tower, a last stand against the encroaching darkness, and the creatures that hide within.
Day 5
Rust-colored apparitions writhe in the distant sky, spewing forth a grotesque tide of creatures.
During the day, we can venture out for firewood and to forage, but even then, the apparitions cast long, menacing shadows.
The smaller creatures, though numerous, are manageable. However, as night falls, truly terrifying forms emerge from the swirling mists, their shapes barely discernible in the gloom.
Day 17
I swear the crystal is dimming.
It is disheartening that this observation is not shared by others, particularly wizard Hollum, who seems unconcerned despite the potential peril.
The crystal's light is our sole defense against the encroaching darkness, and its fading poses a grave threat.
Day 19
Three days.
Three agonizing days since we've seen a single refugee. Are we truly the last remnants of our people?
The silence, broken only by the wind and the occasional panicked cry, is deafening.
Day 22
My fears are confirmed. The crystal, once a beacon of hope, is now a dying ember. Crumbling before our very eyes.
Wizard Hollum, consumed by his desperate research, met his end under the very light he sought to protect.
The creatures, it seems, can strike from the shadows, their aim as true as the finest hunter.
Day 23
Alum, our last hope, rides into the teeth of the unknown, the last elk his weary mount.
May the gods, if they still exist, guide his desperate journey.
Day 29
The crystal is becoming just a plain crystal, its light a shattered reflection of its former glory.
Deep fissures mar its surface, each crack a gaping wound in our defenses.
Day 37
Tress clings to the fading embers of hope, convinced that Alum will return, a knight in shining armor.
But the days bleed into each other, each sunset bringing a fresh wave of despair. The walls are no longer a shield, but a cage, a tomb for the living.
Day 39
Howling winds fill the air, and darkness blankets the sky; a storm is on the verge of unleashing its fury.
The creatures are battering the walls, but for now, the crystal's luminous glow keeps them at bay.
Still, the unsettling sound of the crystal cracking is a cause for concern, its light flickering ominously.
A creature has broken through, but it was quickly eliminated. Will more come?
This is a disaster! The crystal is splintering, and shards are falling like rain…
